Adelaide is the oldest Carver sibling. At the time of A Symphony of Flames and Liberty she is 26 years old and married to her husband Malcolm Elias Edwards. Malcolm is an attorney and the happy couple reside at Tanglewood Manor in Philadelphia where Malcolm is instrumental in the Continental Congress and rumblings of revolution.

       Adelaide is an adoring sister, wife, and mother to the couples only child, Jeremiah Elias Edwards who is four years old. As the eldest of six children who grew up with a modest life in Boston, high society is something new to her. Her best friend Eleanor Thornton has helped guide her through her entrance into her social position and the two hatch many plans to enter Adelaide's sisters into society when they arrive.

       Jeremiah Elias Edwards is the only child of Adelaide and Malcolm Edwards. Jeremiah is a happy child who is adored by his aunts and uncles as he grows up at Tanglewood Manor in Philadelphia.
