A Symphony of Flames and Liberty is set at the birth of the American Revolution, beginning on April 19, 1775 with the battle of Lexington and Concord. While the battle is raging miles away, the humble Bostonian home of a Reverend is raided. His daughters flee for their lives, but the Reverend and his wife are arrested for treason against the crown.

The two daughters are forced to seek shelter at their eldest sister, Adelaide's, estate in the thriving high society city of Philadelphia. Adelaide takes the girls in and decides to enter them into society as debutants to find husbands. The sisters could not have more different feelings about being forced into the ritual of elite husband hunting. Phoebe embraces the games of high society with surprising veracity, while Charlotte is much less amenable.

A Captain in the Massachusetts Minutemen and a spy, Darcy Carver strives to do his best to protect everyone he loves while loyally serving his country. Yet, despite his best efforts, every aspect of his life seems to be fall apart and caving in on him.

Much like his brother, Odysseus Carver strives to serve his country as a Lieutenant General in the Virginia Militia. After the raid on his family home, he is consumed with concern for his sisters, but soon finds that his affinity for women clashes with his family's societal expectations.

Meanwhile, the youngest son, Wilder, was in the field when his home was raided. When he returns, he discovers his home is in flames and he is all alone. Searching for his family, he navigates a unique new life and feelings of abandonment.
